Border Crossings

Pictured on the right are locations of Border Crossings to and from the United States-Canada.  Please be aware of seasonal openings and types of ports.  Listed below are a few Ports of Entry that are frequently used in relation to The Paard Yard.

Please contact the ports directly for equine health certificate requirements and procedures.

Be aware of your starting state when travelling north to Canada.  There are a few states which have more stringent entry requirements with several week layovers before issuing a Health Certificate - Texas being a typical example.  We have a close relationship with a veterinarian in Cascade that can issue health certificates due to layovers or paperwork issues.

Sweetgrass–Coutts Border Crossing

The POE at Sweetgrass is the only twenty-four hour port in western Montana east of the Continental Divide. The Sweetgrass–Coutts Border Crossing connects the town of Sweet Grass, Montana, with Coutts, Alberta, on the Canada–United States border. It is the busiest port of entry in the state of Montana, and is the location where Interstate 15 meets Alberta Highway 4.  Sweetgrass, MT station is ideally located. It is on Interstate 15 approximately midway between Great Falls, MT and Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada.
