GFAB Schooling Show

Piaffe In The Prairie

Renae Talton will be the judge on Saturday, June 7th

USDF Bronze and Silver Medalist, USDF L Graduate

Renae grew up in Montana and rode horses, quite literally, from the time she could walk.  Her competition career began in the Montana youth 4-H circuit, doing everything from western pleasure to hunter hack.  As a teenager, she started competing on the local jumper circuit and transitioned to eventing from there.  Renae, then, moved to North Carolina, taking the horses with her, and started her east coast training in the eventing world with some great trainers and riders, including Olympian Rebecca Howard, Susan Beebee, and Holly Hepp Hudspeth. Shortly thereafter, and on her quest for more thorough training, she redirected her focus on to dressage, where she fell in love with the discipline.  Renae was able to take her homebred, eventing mount up through the levels to earn her USDF Bronze medal in one show season.  From there, she called an FEI dressage competition barn home and spent most of her days (and evenings) riding multiple FEI schoolmasters and training youngsters.  She started doing extensive training with USDF Hall of Famers, Linda Zang and Gary Rockwell, as well as Olympian, Julio Mendoza, and local Grand Prix competitors.  Through these efforts, with much dedication, Renae was able to achieve her USDF Silver medal, gaining mileage and experience at the uppermost levels of dressage.  Since moving her family and string of horses back to Montana in 2021, she has been developing her own young horses and has been training with International Grand Prix rider, Niki Clarke as well as getting the opportunity to learn from Debbie McDonald. Renae has recently completed the L Program for dressage judging and has multiple horses in full-time training. From starting young beginners to upper level eventing and dressage, her lessons focus on correct basics, biomechanics and achieving positive communication between horse and rider.
